Air & Water Balancing and Troubleshooting

Designtest & Balance Co. Ltd is a Toronto-based firm specializing in air and water balancing. We have been in business for over forty years and are experienced in all aspects of testing and balancing. We have completed many projects large and small. Our small projects include a lot of the tenant work in the downtown core, and one of our largest projects we completed is the Terminal Development Project at the Toronto International Airport (the largest aiport in Canada). Testing and balancing is required in many different areas including commercial, hospital, industrial, pharmaceutical, and institutional buildings. As well as air balancing, our services include, water balancing, sound testing, vibration analysis, duct leak tests, air surveys, complete commissioning of HVAC, troubleshooting (HVAC), indoor air quality investigations, and dynamic balancing (I.R.D. certified). Surrinder Sahota worked with an air balancing company for eight years before opening his own company Designtest & Balance Co. Ltd. in September 1983. He started with one assistant and has rapidly grown to a firm of over fifteen field employees and five office staff. He became a member of the Associated Air Balance Council (AABC) in 1985. AABC is a non-profit organization whose objective it is to “establish stringent membership requirements that ensure members objectivity, integrity and technical expertise”. Surrinder has been an active member and stood as president for two terms for the Canadian Chapter. He has established Designtest to be one of the most well respected air balancing companies. His expertise is much sought after by engineers, building managers and local contractors. He has vast experience in all aspects of testing and balancing and has successfully managed many large projects, such as Greater Toronto Airport Authority, Ontario power generation (Darlington and Pickering), pharmaceutical companies, universities, hospitals and many more. Arjun Sahota - Arjun Sahota has been working at Designtest since May 2016. For two years he worked in a part-time role before transitioning into a full-time role in April 2020. Since April 2020, he has worked as a technician, project lead, then as a project manager, and now as an operations manager. He has worked on projects all over the Greater Toronto Area. Some of the projects he has led/managed are Sanofi Pasteur Building 100, Bay Adelaide Scotiabank North Tower, T3 Sterling, and Sanofi Pasteur Building 200.
