PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:

The September meeting @ the Imperial Buffet was very informative about WEB access to your own set of architectural, electrical, mechanical etc. information and drawings. The service offered by CION, ProjectWeb FM, this is a full service web-based solution that allows users to quickly search and access their most up-to-date building drawings 24/7 from anywhere. The presentation explained the need to have secure information of your facility available and how CION can assist in making this opportunity a reality.

Wednesday October 8th. was a milestone for the TMBOA and HEAT organizations. This was our first joint meeting. The venue was excellent, close to the City Hall (can't get any closer to the centre of the city) @ The Toronto Marriott Eaton Centre. The planning and speaker was arranged mainly by Bill Evans of HTS Engineering. There were many familiar and new faces @ the meeting. Paul Singh, President of HEAT gave the opening remarks followed by Colin Jones, president of the TMBOA. The main speaker Randy Zadow, Business development manager, from McQuay International was introduced by Darrell McKenna of HTS Engineering.

The topic was Centrifugal Chiller Energy Performance, Refrigerant Contamination and OAM (Oil-Acid-Moisture) purge Payback. Randy outlined that the chiller in the biggest energy user in the building and by careful evaluation of the daily readings, energy can be saves. The OAM purge can remove the oil from the refrigerant, there by improving the efficiency of the chiller. He touched on oil free chiller design as well as variable speed drives on chillers. Answered questions from the floor and was very informative. The meeting was successful and I am looking forward to similar meetings in the future.

The November meeting will be held @ the Imperial Buffet in Scarborough and Tim Byrne President of Stadia will be the guest speaker. Tim will be conducting an "all about door's workshop". Tim makes his presentations very topical.

Come and be informed about one of the areas in a building that takes a lot of maintenance.

Thank You,

Yours Truly,

Colin Jones
President
