Speaker: Rick Blakely of Ashland/Drew Chemical will outline their award winning SONOXIDE ultrasonic water treatment system.

Traditionally, microbial growth within water systems has been controlled by chemical treatment. The SONOXIDE system offers a new approach to microbiological control in recirculating cooling water systems. SONOXIDE water treatment system is a patented technology that uses low power, high frequency ultrasound to kill bacteria throughout industrial water systems. The system works by recirculating a portion of the water through the SONOXIDE unit. The water that is returned contains bacteria that have been damaged by the ultrasonic waves, and this triggers a complex chain of events that causes disruption of slime and biofilm growth in all parts of the system.

The dinner is a selected menu, please call Peter Choi (416 862-2255) to verify your choice.

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:

I hope all members and their families had an exciting Summer.

I am very proud of being selected as the Present of the TBMOA. In our new year the executive will be reviewing methods of increasing our membership. We have located a central location for our monthly meeting (Valley Fields restaurant @ 1222 Lawrence Avenue East), we used this venue for the May and June meeting. Our future topics are on water treatment, field trip, Home Depot Talk about tools, Paul Wolf Electric with a special door prize on the January 10th meeting and a very generous proposal to sponsor the dinners of the first 50 members @ the January, February and March meeting (2007). With support like this the future of the association is looking positive.

In our June meeting Mr. Roy Paluoja, Program Coordinator of Seneca College outlined the platform of IFTAC to our members and explain the future of the program.

http://www.iftac.com/ There was support to help Seneca promote the interprovincial possibility of having building operators recognisized across Canada. Details were outlined in our June newsletter.

During the summer, while in Calgary to visit my daughters etc., I was invited to meet the executive of the BOA- Calgary by my friend Casey Kok. Les Anderson PE, RPA outlined their concerns which are common concern about our Industry. I explained the direction of Seneca College BES program and IFTAC; they explained their situation with respect to Alberta's Power Engineers license situation. The building engineer designation had been rolled into the Power Engineers ticket about 15 years ago. The BOA - Calgary are embarking --- to re-generate the building engineers "ticket" through a new course in the near future. This is a mammoth undertaking but if it takes wings we should support them. Soon we will link out WEB sites, start a committee to keep Toronto and Calgary Building fraternity in tune with each other. http://www.boacalgary.com/home.html I am looking forward to the coming year. Thank You, Yours Truly,

Colin Jones
President
